Best UHRS Vendor: Clickworker Vs Appen

 In our previous post on how to make up to 10.000FCFA a day as a student just by working online with your mobile phone or computer without any investment, we shared how to get started on UHRS(Universal Human Relevance System)  which is a crowd-sourcing platform by Microsoft. In this article, we are going to discuss the best UHRS vendors for maximum earnings. Though there are several vendors, you are advised to work with ONLY ONE one vendor at a time. So, we will be talking about the two main vendors covered in our previous article: Clickworker and APPEN

CLICKWORKER VS APPEN

Both Clickworker and Appen are great choices for UHRS vendors. There are other great choices but I personally love these two. Remember, I am writing based on my personal experience. I have been working time on UHRS with Appen for about 328 hours over 9 months as seen in the screenshot below.

Each vendor has its advantages and disadvantages and there is no perfect vendor. Your choice of vendors would depend on certain factors such as:

• payment options available
• payment cycle
• fees
• how long it takes to get started
• work policies
• HitApps availability
• Assessment   etc

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Both Clickworker and Appen do support a wide range of payment options prominently Paypal and Payoneer. available options are shown based on your location. In most cases, you will see either Paypal or Payoneer. With Appen, you could always write them to change your payment option. I think this is only possible before you start working on uhrsUHRS with Appen. If you are granted access to UHRS, you may not be able to change your payment option.

PAYMENT CYCLE

The payment cycle for Appen is very straightforward. it is from the 12th to the 14th of every month. That means if I started working on January 1st and you started working on January 31st, both of us would be paid from the 12th to 14th of February. Pretty straightforward. All we have to do is submit our invoices no later than the date specified (usually the 4th to 6th of the following month). In our case, to get paid, you have to submit your invoice between the 4th to 6th of February. if you submit it later, you won't be paid for that month. the payment would be carried to the next billing month: March. so, in this case, you will get paid for two invoices.

Now over to clickworker. It is a little different here. First, you need to understand that, your earnings from UHRS are transferred to your vendor every week. Clickworker pays its workers weekly. Do not get excited so soon. for your weekly earnings to become payable, it takes 39 days. I didn't say your monthly earnings. let's take this example

You started working on the 1^st of January. Your earnings for week 1 of January (1st to 7th) will become payable after 39 days. This means you would get paid on the 8th of February. Your earnings for week 2 of January after 39 days would be paid on the 15th of Feb. week 3 on the 22nd of Feb. Week 4 on the 1st of March. It is important to note that those payment dates must fall within the payment cycle dates(Tuesday to Friday) and your invoice must be generated(it is automatic) before Wednesday at the latest.

FEE

There is no fee to join any UHRS platform. it is completely free. By fee, we mean the fees you would pay for your UHRS earnings to finally hit your bank.

As we mentioned earlier, UHRS sends your earnings to your vendor at the end of each week. This is free and you don't incur any charges or fees. However, when it comes to Clickworker, the situation is different. UHRS pays in US Dollars while Clickworker pays in Euro. When your earnings are transferred to Clickworker, clickworker needs to convert it to euro. They pay an exchange fee. To cut the whole story short, they deduct 4.2 percent from your UHRS weekly earnings to cover the cost of conversion and the cost to transfer to your Payoneer. It looks like it also covers the cost of withdrawing from Payoneer to your local bank. Clickworker right now doesn't pay to your payoneer wallet. It processes your payment to your bank directly via Payoneer without your intervention. 

Appen on the other hand sends your payment to payoneer or paypal. for payoneer, you pay a net fee of $3 for every single payment request no matter the amount. If you want to save, don't withdraw money. rather, combine 2 or more invoices and request for payment.

LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT

Both clickworker and Appen have updated their language assessment for UHRS. before you gain access to uhrs, you must pass with a good score on the language test. Let's explore.

Recently, clickworker has removed the language assessment for uhrs. the only assessment is the creation of a liveID(Microsoft or Outlook account) which you normally have to do for all vendors except Toloka. this usually takes up to 5 minutes. once done you immediately get access to UHRS?

However, if you add a second language, your access to UHRS will be suspended until you verify the second language which entails you doing a video record of yourself speaking in the language for 30  seconds to 1 minute. once verified, you get access to plenty of hit apps or tasks in both Languages with higher pay

Appen on the other hand requires you to pass a language test which is more of a voice annotation.  20 questions. it is very likely that more than 90 percent of Africans to fail the annotation. But the good thing is answer sheets are available online.

BONUS

It is important to know that the more languages you have the more tasks you get and consequently the more money you make.  On this clickworker is the winner.

If you are in Cameroon, the minimum we can withdraw to our bank is 50 euros. if clickworker pays you less than 50 euros, it stays under upcoming in your clickworker. once you receive more funds, it then goes into your bank.

NB. As of the time of writing, clickworker is no longer available in Cameroon. If you have funds, use a VPN to access clickworker support page and request for final payout. do not log in to clickworker with VPN.

• can add up to 2 languages thereby boosting your earning potential by almost 60%

CONS

• You must have the clickworker app installed 
• cannot work on uhrs if you are out of the country
• use of a VPN even opened in the background would lead to account block
• very long payment cycle(39 days)
• problem with address verification if your account gets blocked
• your funds don't enter your payoneer wallet. so you cannot withdraw to another bank send it to another Payoneer user or pay someone.

APPEN

• very convenient payment cycle
• no need to have the Appen app installed
• can continue working on uhrs with a VPN or when out of the country
• No extra fee for currency conversion. 
• your funds stay in your payoneer wallet. you choose when to cash out to your bank or you can cash out to a friend's, family, or business partner's bank. You can buy crypto or shop online directly with your Payoneer virtual card
• monthly incentives for the best 5 freelancers (quality or quantity)
• Access to some exclusive Hitapps

CONS

• the new test is difficult
• takes 1 to 2 months before you gain access to uhrs
• you must submit invoice before the deadline
• limited potential earnings due to only 1 language
• easily kicked out of the project for no reason
• must earn minimum $5 every week or be kicked out of the project after 3 warnings(they are a little lenient here)

CONCLUSION

What is the best vendor for uhrs between clickworker and Appen? Both vendors are good and it depends on the individual needs of each freelancer such as payment, incentives, availability of tasks, and other factors.
